Can I email my image to you? Yes it is possible to submit images via email. If you choose to submit an image by email please save it with JPEG file compression to create a file of a suitable size.
Can I save my image on a CD and mail it to you? Yes this is probally the best way to submit a digital image. When sending your image on a CD, please save it as an uncompressed TIFF file if possiblle or if not a low compressed Jpeg.
If I post you a photograph will you scan it? Yes. If you do not have access to a scanner, we will be happy to take your original photo, negative or transparency and scan it for you. There is no additional cost for this service if the scanning is part of a print order. All originals will be returned.
Which file formats are best? We accept most file formats and the suitability of the format really depends on wether you intend to submit your image by email or by normal post. As a general rule, JPEG files are best if submitting by email and TIFF files are best if submitting by CD.
Jpeg files are 'lossy' meaning that when you compress the data, they throw some of it away. When a JPEG file is uncompressed (opened up again) it does not always duplicate the original data exactly.
TIFF files on the other hand are 'lossless' meaning they do not throw away data whilst compressing. The result is that TIFF files are much larger than JPEG files but they preserve every pixel that was in the original.
What's your accepted file resolution size when...
- scanning with a high resolution scanner... if you could please scan your image to the required print size at leaset 150 dots per inch (300 dpi is preferable)
- creating images in graphics programmes such as Adobe Photoshop... please create images at least 150 dots per inch (300 dpi is preferable)
- creating images from digital cameras... please use the superfine setting or the highest resolution available to you.
What is the maximum print size I can order? We use a 44' EPSON printer. This means that the maximum you will get on one side is 40'. This is to allow for the wrap around the 30mm frame all the way round. The length can be as long as you wish depending on the aspect ratio of your original image. Also the maximum print size depends on the quality of the original you send. If you are unsure about the quality of your image please just give us a call or email us.
Remember We can only work with what you supply us. The better your image you supply us the better your print will be.
